Session 1: Improv/Core Material - June 17
Session 2: Character, Setting, and Conflict - June 24
Session 3: Manuscript Workshop - July 8
Reading/Book launch for ME, MYSELF, AND HIM - July 13 at 4PM
Join us for one, two, or all three parts of this workshop with Hinesburg author, Chris Tebbetts.
Session 1 will focus on improvisation for writers (no performance required!); identifying your core material and fascinations; and developing story ideas from those inner, organic places.
For Session 2, participants can build on what they’ve already begun or work from scratch as we focus on the building blocks of story: character, setting, and conflict.
For Session 3, participants can build on what they’ve already begun in the previous session(s) or bring in any other work in progress. Each writer will share a bit of their work and then receive feedback in a guided format, with a focus on the positive. Time allowing, we’ll also talk about the writing process itself, getting the work done, and getting unstuck in the middle of a project.
On Saturday, July 13, we’ll have a group reading open to the public, where anyone from the writing workshop may choose to share a brief selection from their work (5 minutes max per participant.) Our emphasis will be on bringing something you developed in the workshop for the reading, but participants can bring in other work if they prefer. Chris will also be discussing and reading from his new novel, followed by audience discussion/Q&A.
Free and open to the public
