We have two exciting opportunities at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England that will lead our advocacy efforts to promote and protect our essential health care services in Vermont.  

The Vice President of Public Policy Vermont is a senior management position responsible for creating and advancing effective legislative policy strategy, conduct campaigns for Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund, and build strong coalitions and partnerships with fellow organizations and state leaders.

The VT Public Affairs Organizer reports to the VP of Public Policy and is responsible for establishing and nurturing a powerful relationship with a rapidly growing base of activists and volunteers in order to conduct strategic advocacy efforts around the state.  This position works across departments to keep our supporters engaged in our work.  Both job postings are listed below -- please post pass along to those in your network.

Vice President of Public Policy, Vermont (Colchester, VT)

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is currently seeking an individual well versed in the policy and legislative arena to serve as Vice President of Public Policy, Vermont.  This full-time senior management position oversees the public policy, advocacy, communications, and electoral activities for PPNNE and its affiliated entities in Vermont.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing a strategic public affairs agenda aligned with PPNNE’s values; managing the annual work plan  for VT’s Public Affairs department (VT); identifying and designing strategies for public policy issues impacting PPNNE’s health care and education services;  overseeing the expansion and utilization of the PPNNE activist and supporter leadership network; directing the work of the PP Vermont Action Fund and state PAC; serving as a senior spokesperson and media liaison for PPNNE , PPVT AF and PAC; and developing positive partnerships with outside constituencies including health care industry leaders.  Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, with advanced degree preferred, plus ten or more years’ relevant public policy experience in a non-profit/issue advocacy setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired; excellent writing and communication skills; knowledge of the legislative process and experience working with elected officials and state administrative agencies; demonstrated ability to develop and manage issue and electoral campaigns involving advocacy, communications and grassroots components; excellent communication skills, media relations and the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of individuals and constituencies in and outside of PPNNE. Vermont Public Affairs Organizer (Colchester, VT)

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is candidates for a full time (37.5 hours/week) Vermont Public Affairs Organizer position based out of our Colchester, Vermont administrative offices.  We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic, and creative individual ready to mobilize and engage with all Vermonters across the state on the issues most important to our patient base.  The Public Affairs Organizer is responsible for growing powerful relationships with Vermont’s expanding activist and volunteer base, strategically raising awareness about sexual and reproductive health issues and representing Planned Parenthood at public events.  This individual must be able to work alongside multiple departments across the affiliate to create bold social media and marketing tactics, to empower our patients to take action in our work, as well as develop strong volunteer leadership able to develop and sustain a statewide volunteer and activist team. Understanding of Vermont’s political process, as well as public speaking and volunteer management experience required.
