Vermont Comedy Divas in support of the Pride Center of Vermont
The Vermont Comedy Divas are proud to be partnering with the Pride Center of Vermont to bring the community together and raise funds. The past year has been one of exciting change for the Pride Center, including a new name and mission statement, expanded events that reach across the state and deeply into the community, and new programs such as Burlington Pride. It is time to get together to celebrate, to laugh, and to show our support for a critical resource in Burlington!
The Vermont Comedy Divas were founded by Josie Leavitt in 2006 as way to showcase female comics. Since then, the Divas have performed all over New England for a myriad of groups and organizations including the Red Hat Society, Brain Cancer Research Foundation, Vermont Works for Women and the Women’s Business Owners Network. In the past two years alone, the Divas Do Good program has raised thousands of spirits and dollars for great causes. The Divas are the nation’s only all-female touring comedy troupe.
Pride Center of Vermont (PCVT) is New England’s most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and the health and safety of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Vermonters. The Center’s programs and services strive to meet the distinct socio-economic, health, and safety needs of the LGBTQ community. The drop-in resource center, community meeting spaces, 3,000-volume lending library, David Bohnett Cyber Center, and social events all help to build community and create increased access to information and resources for all our members. PCVT also houses the Vermont Queer Archives to preserve LGBTQ VT’s unique history.
