Rally for the lgbtqia & Jewish Community
As of Monday, February 4th, the Pride Center of Vermont needed to close in order to address the safety and well-being of its staff and users due to a string of highly concerning events. In an unrelated event, a poster was glued to the front window of the center sometime between the night of Monday the 4th and Tuesday morning. The poster came from an alt-right group using vitriolic language and depicted an arrow piercing a sickle and cross.
This disturbing and harmful act has impacted the center and its users creating unnecessary suffering for them and our community at large. Gathering as a community to show the LGBTQIA+ among other intersecting identities solidarity and support is essential for oppression to end and healing to begin.
Please invite any and all people on your friend lists and listservs. Be sure to dress for the weather, bring posters demonstrating support of LGBTQIA+ community, and your best rally voice.
We will meet at the top of Church St. at 12pm and make our way down to City Hall park for a rally and speak out session until 2pm. This is a peaceful protest and as such should focus on supporting our LGBTQIA+ family; however if you feel so impassioned to speak out against hate and oppression in the variety of ways it shows up, feel free to do so.
